Dr Karl Cole wins Clinical Informatics Leadership Award

healthAlliance chief clinical information officer Dr Karl Cole has been announced as the winner of the 2021 Clinical Informatics Leadership Award.

The award honours the leadership, mahi and achievements of clinicians working in the field of data and digital health.

Karl was one of three finalists up for the prestigious award, which was selected by public vote.

In winning the award, the judges noted his strong advocacy for data liquidity and interoperability, which gives him a unique perspective on digital projects.

“Working across regions and multiple stakeholders, Cole has demonstrated strategic acuity and an ability to ensure technical solutions align with real world clinical implications.”

Karl and our Clinical Informatics team have been working tirelessly with our Northern region DHB customers and primary care over the past 18 months to enable the rapid digitisation of healthcare services in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

When not solving digital health problems or caring for patients at his Papatoetoe GP practice, Karl can be found administering vaccines to help protect our communities in the fight against Covid-19.
