This service includes:

• Arranging suppliers, planning procurement, administering tenders, clinical consultation, contract development, legal advice, supplier relationship management
• Requisitioning of goods to placement of orders (largely electronic with automated workflow and approval process)
• Distribution of goods from receiving area to delivery point
• Relationship management for third party logistics providers (the DHBs do not have inventory warehouses)

The shareholding DHBs currently run their own procurement of:

• Building construction and maintenance
• Contracts with external healthcare providers handled by Funding teams
