
healthAlliance is the most significant shared services organisation in New Zealand.
The shared services concept of healthAlliance was initiated in 1999 as a joint venture between Counties Manukau DHB and Waitemata DHB.
On the 1 March 2011 the formation of a new Northern Region shared services organisation provided opportunity to provide efficient and effective delivery of non-frontline transactional support services for Northland DHB, Waitemata DHB, Auckland DHB and Counties Manukau DHB.
Building on the strong foundation and vision of healthAlliance that has existed since 2000 - healthAlliance is jointly owned by the four DHBs and Health Benefits Ltd.
healthAlliance exists to provide:
- Efficient & effective delivery of transactional activities
- Lower costs
- Improved quality & sustainability of service
- Elimination of inefficiencies
- Integrated & seamless processes
- Centres of excellence, expertise & staff development
- Regional alignment & standardisation of activities within customer DHBs
